How to Find a Mate in 2014

Nowadays, it’s totally the norm to find your next potential partner via a website. I know, right? Personally I met my boyfriend six years ago in a bar, so for that long I’ve been utterly clueless as to how the dating scene works. With that in mind, I’m probably not the best person to ask about finding a potential love interest, but I’m rather intrigued by how this stuff works now, even if it’s just so I live vicariously through it.

I’m pretty certain that it was mentioned in a film that the perfect place to meet people was the supermarket. And I agree. I’ve happened to meet load of girls in the supermarket – only they’ve been older ladies looking for a chat or some help getting the tins of cat food that’s out of reach but I don’t think that’s what they meant. Unless they’re into some pretty niche stuff.

Anyway.

First things first, you need to know what you’re looking for, obvs. Are you looking for someone to spend the rest of your life with, have babies, and a happily ever after with? Maybe someone to have casual fun with? Just a friend and companion?

Then we need to know where to find them! We can probably discount supermarkets.

For a soul mate, you’ll need to think of who you’re looking for, and then probably look for exactly the opposite of that. That’s how life works. If you’re looking for a rich banker in the city, go to a charity workshop down the road, it’ll work out for the best I promise.

For the casual adult stuff, have a look on some free adult chat sites such as shagaholic.com and upforit.com, these free sex sites allow you to meet others that are looking for the same thing as you, you can engage in chat with others, build your confidence if you’ve been out of the loop for a while and can be a lot of fun.

Another site worth a look is iwantu.com for free sex dating and allow you to meet the kind of people you’re looking for all in the comfort of your own home. What’s not to like? And if you’re just looking for a companion, good for you! There’s always loads of groups and clubs that you can find in local papers or Facebook pages. Find a penpal or write a blog, start a new hobby. How about knitting?

How did you meet your other half? Have you tried any of the sites above – I’d love to know!

This is a sponsored post, however all editorial and opinion is my own.
